The glass visitor corridor
The new erLebzelterei presents traditional craftsmanship in a modern design.
The traditional art of gingerbread baking is demonstrated on more than 3,500 square meters of viewing space, from mixing and rolling out the honey dough to filling, topping, and decorating.
Just 150 meters from the basilica, towards the cable car, a new attraction awaits every Mariazell visitor: the large gingerbread demonstration bakery. Tours are open daily from May to December, except Sundays and holidays, without prior reservation. They demonstrate the artisanal gingerbread making process in every step. Creative gingerbread bakers inscribe colorful gingerbread hearts, decorate them with flowers or company logos, and use icing to create true works of art.
Be there from A to Z
From cracking the eggs to assembling the flavors in the packaging, you'll observe every step of the production process. You'll watch Pirker's delicacies come to life at workstations, depending on the flavor. Supported by state-of-the-art technology, more than 80 different gingerbread varieties are made "live" behind glass. An experience for the whole family.
Transparency creates trust.
The transparency of our gingerbread production is unique. Our glass-fronted gingerbread factory is IFS-certified according to strict hygiene regulations. This means we meet the highest quality and hygiene standards and are among a select group of 400 certified companies in Austria.
